John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon

The historic 390 mile Beargrease is the longest sled dog race in the lower 48 states and a prequalifying race to the Iditarod. International mushers and their teams brave the rugged terrain and elements of Minnesota's North Shore trails from Duluth to the Canadian Border and then back to Duluth. Fitger's is the official race week headquarters. Race events include the Beargrease Gala Dinner, Cutest Puppy Contest, Opening Ceremonies and the Beargrease Race Start. All events are open to the public. Visitors are welcome at the race checkpoints - Two Harbors, Beaver Bay, Finland, Tofte for the Mid Distance Race Finish, Sawbill, Devil Track, the Gunflint Trail's, Trail Center and Billy's for the Marathon Finish.
