We’ve had a successful summer here in Duluth! We hope you were able to visit us and enjoy the beautiful views of Lake Superior, the great festivals and events at Bayfront Park, and the plentiful shopping and dining in Canal Park.
If you haven’t been to Duluth yet this season, or if you’re looking to come back again, you’re in luck. Fall is right around the corner, and with that comes even more great experiences to take part in. If you follow our suggestions closely, you’ll be at risk of falling INN love with Duluth!
1. Check the Current Leaf Colors
By visiting the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources you’ll get an excellent map of the state of Minnesota and the approximate condition of the leaves. The peak colors are the most beautiful, and this guide will help you anticipate them.
2. Take a Walk in the Woods
There’s no better way to take in everything Fall has to offer than crunching leaves under your feet and smelling the crisp Autumn air. Our favorite spots for a moderate hike are the Park Point Trail and the Lester Park Trail.
3. Buy a Hoodie from Flagship
Duluth cools down in temperature to the low 60’s in the fall, so what better way to stay warm than with an attractive new hoodie from the local artisans at Flagship? They screen print all of their clothing, and they even offer live demonstrations in store!
4. Ride the Train to Pick a Pumpkin
For one weekend only, October 18-21, the North Shore Scenic Railroad offers a train ride to their pumpkin patch where each ticket holder can pick out one pumpkin of their choice. Tickets, and pumpkins, go fast so be sure to make your reservations early!
5. Sip a Steamy Drink at the Lake Superior Bakehouse
Nothing screams Fall like pumpkin flavored everything. Be sure to check out the Lake Superior Bakehouse for handcrafted drinks and baked goods. Their specialties include coffee cake, scones, and savory brioche. If you don’t find something to satisfy your appetite here, something is wrong!
6. Cozy Up with Blankets and make a S’more
What better way to end your perfect fall day than to roast marshmallows over our patio fires while watching the sunset? We have blankets to wrap up in and all of the s’mores ingredients at your fingertips. Lightly browned or burnt, the choice is yours!
All of us at the Inn on Lake Superior love Duluth in the Fall and look forward to sharing our beautiful city with you. We wish you were here!
